Modern Wedding Etiquette: Wedding Guest List

Making your own guest list needs planning
A wedding, no matter how simple it is, cannot be complete without the traditional reception after the rites. Chosen guests who attended the ceremonies socially mingle at the reception arranged for the bride and groom. This reception can be held in the residence of the groom or bride or in a selected venue like a restaurant so that all those cordially invited can dine at the tables over sumptuous menu and a toast of wine or beverage.

Customarily, the bride and groom make the necessary preparations by planning ahead especially the list of guests to be cordially invited to the wedding ceremonies. It is important for them to know even the modern wedding etiquette. The guest list would include those closest to the bride and groom, like their parents, relatives and intimate friends. The entourage of the wedding rites such as the godparents of both, the best man and bridesmaid, candle bearers and veil sponsors are notified through a wedding invitation.

Other persons that the bride and groom may choose are also included in the guest list and are sent went wedding invitations to formally inform them of the time, date and venue of the wedding. Chosen politicians, government officials and businessmen may likewise be included in the guest list giving more color to the wedding. This is open done when high profile people or belonging to the upper strata of society are being married.

Sometimes, the future couple assigns the selection of people to be included in the guest list to someone close to the former. But just the same, the one assigned by the bride and groom to do the selection of prospective guests would include the persons mentioned. Taking the modern wedding etiquette in mind, the couple can plan accordingly. The guest list is made to enable both the bride and groom to estimate the number of guests or invitees. Having estimated invitees, the necessary accommodations during the reception is ironed out in advance.
